Keystone Indoor Kicks News

Keystone Indoor Kicks management is excited about its new 2011-2012 Season. The new season will feature a number of changes in our programs and procedures.

Prime League changes league structure

The Management Group of KIKS will change the"Prime League schedule only" from Two 8 game sessions to a One 12 games session. This is because of the reaction to the overlapping of the outdoor soccer season.  .

  • USFF Headquarters-In what may be seen in the future as a historic moment for the game, US Futsal and Australian Vikings Futsal met this week to plan future international tournaments and relationships between each other. Alex Para, CEO of US Futsal and his counterpart Alistair Miller discussed a number of opportunities and came to agreement on a number including

    * Pacific Cup for Pacific Ocean bordering nations to be played every two years(first 2012), for the age groups 17 years boys ,19 years boys and open age men and women. * Women's World Championship (first 2013) for women's national teams * World Club Championships for men and women to be held annually (first 2012) for the champion club teams of each nation.
    * The champion Australian teams from the January Australian National Titles in men and women will qualify for the prestigious Gold Cup of Nations held at USA Nationals in July each year. * The champion USA teams from the USA July nationals in men and women will qualify to compete in the Australian nationals in the following January.

Both countries have been running tournaments with other nations on their own sides of the Pacific and hopefully this will bring them all together. Further details on all tournaments will be issued later. In another ground breaking deal, both parties signed an agreement to assist in the development of referees by setting up an exchange programme for their national and international referees.

The first initiative is for each nation to send 2 referees to the others National Championship for the experience and exchange of ideas. This will start with two USA referees attending the Australian Nationals in January.

In a joint statement, the CEO' s stated "We are trying to provide more opportunities at an elite level in the sport, and hopefully this will be the start of a relationship that will offer thid. In time it is hoped more age groups will also become involved. "

The Penn West Board of Directors stated, "we look forward to these youth competitions as we fully expect our kids to benefit from them." With our history of National Champios, and players selected to the Mens National team, we feel comforatable in knowing that some future National Team players are playig in our leagues now.

  • Western PA Futsal, a hot-bed?

    By James Swonick

Over the past 4 years the western part of the Keystone State has produced top quality Futsal teams. In this same time span the Penn West Futsal League has staked claim to 5 National Championships, 9 Regional Championships, and 6 finalists at said tournaments. A quick calculation shows that adds up to 20 times that a Penn West Futsal team has been playing in a championship game at a Regional or National tournament. So what is the secret to the success of the Mon Valley? Well, there are multiple, but without a doubt one reason is the emergence of clubs dedicated to Futsal training.

  •

Since 2007 Penn West Futsal has gone from one club dedicated to only training and playing Futsal, The Barbarian Football Coalition, to having five. The new clubs (All American Futsal, Azzurri Futsal, Complete Moves Futsal Academy, Mallorca Futsal) have burst on to the scene winning championships at the state, regional, and national level. One may wonder how these newly formed clubs are able to be competing at such a high level year-in and year-out, and there is but one conclusion, the Prime League.Played at the Monroeville Sports Center, Penn West Futsal’s Prime League is the main arena where these clubs do battle week after week. This year the Prime League will play Monday, Friday, and Saturday, with Saturday being full of Futsal fun when games start at 9:00 am and not end until after 10:00 p.m. The Prime League is the tool that the clubs use tune-up for the USFF Northeast-Mid Atlantic Regional Tournament, hosted every February, and the USFF National Tournament, hosted every July.

It is evident that Western PA has some of the elite Futsal Clubs in the country, so let’s all give ourselves a pat on the back, we deserve it. The seeds have been planted for Western PA to blossom into the epicenter of Futsal; we only need to provide the water.
